We are going to visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites on this tour such as the city of Ferrara and the Po’ Delta (1995), early Christian monuments in Ravenna (1996), the International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza (2011), the complex of Cattedrale, Torre Civica and Piazza Grande in Modena (1997), Parma UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy (2015). We are going to visit Bologna as well and stroll under the famous porticos that became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2021.

ItinerarY

First day: Ferrara

Arrival in Ferrara and rendezvous with the guide. We are going to visit the city: Palazzo dei Diamanti, Castello Estense, Piazza Savonarola, Palazzo Schifanoia, Palazzo Ducale, and the Cattedrale di San Giorgio. From Piazza Trento and Trieste we then arrive to the Jewish ghetto. At the end of the visits, we are going to check-in in a 4-star hotel in Ferrara. Dinner at the restaurant. Return to the hotel and overnight stay.

Second day: Ferrara – Po’ Delta Park – Ravenna

After breakfast, we are going to relocate to the Abbazia di Pomposa for a guided tour. Then, we are going to board a motor vessel reserved for the day trip in the Po’ Delta Park. We are going to navigate between the canals and cane fields of the Po di Volano and of the Valli Bertuzzi, Valle Nuova and Val Canton until we reach the mouth of the Big River, located in the Sacca di Goro, known for its fish farms of mussells and clams where we are going to meet the fishermen and get to know their work. At the end of the boat tour, we are going to have a fish-based lunch at the restaurant. In the afternoon we are going to relocate to Comacchio for a guided tour of the city centre. At the end of the visit, we head to Ravenna, and check-in to a 4-star hotel. Dinner (not included in the offer) and overnight stay in the hotel.

Third day: Ravenna

After breakfast, we are going to relocate to Ravenna. In the morning we are going to have a guided tour of the Mausoleo di Galla Placidia, the Basilica di San Vitale, and the Domus dei Tappeti di Pietra. Lunch (not included in the offer) in the city centre. In the afternoon we are going to have a guided tour of the Battistero Neoniano, of the Cappella Arcivescovile di Sant’Andrea and lastly of the Basilica di Sant’Apollinare Nuovo. Dinner at the restaurant. Return to the hotel and overnight stay.

Fourth day: Ravenna

After breakfast, we are going to spend the morning visiting sites related to Dante Alighieri (also known as the Supreme Poet in Italy): Dante’s tomb, the garden named after Quadrarco di Braccioforte, and the Old Franciscan Cloisters. Lunch (not included in the offer). In the afternoon, we are heading by private coach to a town called Classe by private coach and we are going to visit the Basilica di Sant’Apollinare in Classe. At the end of the visit, we are going back to Ravenna. Free time will be given before having dinner at the restaurant. Return to the hotel and overnight stay.

Fifth day: Ravenna – Faenza – Bologna

After breakfast, we are going to relocate to Faenza. We are going to have a guided tour of Faenza city centre. Time will be given for lunch and then we are going to visit the International Museum of Ceramics (UNESCO). At the end of the visit we are going to relocate to Bologna and check-in to a 4-star hotel. Dinner at the restaurant, return to the hotel and overnight stay.

Sixth day: Bologna

After breakfast, we are going to spend the entire day visiting Bologna strolling through the famous porticos (UNESCO World Heritage Site). We are going to begin from Piazza Malpighi, where the apse of the Chiesa di San Francesco stands, beside the 13th century tombe dei Glossatori. We head towards Piazza Maggiore, in the heart of the city, where we are going to visit the interior of the Basilica di San Petronio. We are going to visit the exterior of Palazzo d’Accursio, Palazzo dei Banchi, Palazzo del Podestà and Palazzo dei Notai. We continue until Piazza Nettuno, and visit the famous Fountain and the Palazzo Re Enzo. We are going to stop for lunch near Mercato di Mezzo, a market of medieval origin. Early in the afternoon we are going to reach the Due Torri (Two Towers) and we continue up to the Basilica di Santo Stefano. Lastly, we are going to visit the Chiesa di San Domenico and the Chiesa di Santa Maria della Vita. Dinner at therestaurant, return to the hotel and overnight stay.

Seventh day: Bologna – Modena – Parma

We are going to have breakfast at the hotel and relocate to Modena. We are going to visit the city centre, including Piazza Grande, the Duomo and the torre della Ghirlandina, all listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Then, we are going to visit the Galleria Estense. Early in the afternoon, we are going to visit a traditional vinegar factory and have a vinegar tasting session. At the end of the tasting session, we are going to relocate to Parma and check-in to a 4-star hotel. Dinner at the restaurant, return to the hotel and overnight stay.

Eighth day: Modena – Parma

DAfter breakfast, we are going to visit Parma. We begin with the Palazzo Ducale and its Garden, and then we are going to visit Palazzo della Pilotta. Lunch at the restaurant. In the afternoon, we are going to visit the Duomo and walk down the streets surrounding Piazza Garibaldi, where you can find the City Hall and the Governor’s Palace. We are going to visit the interior of the Chiesa diSanta Maria della Steccata. At the end of the visits, we are going back to the place of arrival and that is the end of our services. Possible additions or integrations may be added to the main program based on the client’s preferences.

ADDITIONAL TOURS

Labirinto della Masone by Franco Maria Ricci

The Labirinto della Masone is a cultural park built near the town of Fontanellato, in the province of Parma. It is the largest labyrinth in existence and it is entirely made of bamboo plants (in total there are approximately 200,000 plants), with a height ranging roughly between 1 and 50 feet and belonging to 20 different plant species. Next to the labyrinth there are a Museum (housing the entire art collection Franco Maria Ricci compiled in fifty years) and a Library (housing book collections and all the books Franco Maria Ricci published in 50 years), exhibition venues for temporary shows, an Archive and tourist facilities.
