Itinerary

First day: Florence – Poggio a Caiano

We are going to arrive in Florence, meet the guide and relocate to the Medici villa of Poggio a Caiano, one of the Medici residences declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At the end of the visit, we are going back to Florence for lunch (not included in the offer). We are going to spend the afternoon visiting the Uffizi Gallery. The building, commissioned by Cosimo I de’ Medici, was designed to host the “uffizi”, that is the administrative and judicial offices of Florence. At the end of the visits, we are going to check-in to a 4-star hotel in Florence. Dinner in a historical restaurant located in the city centre. Return to the hotel and overnight stay.

Second day: Florence

After breakfast, we are going to spend the entire day visiting Florence, birthplace of the Renaissance. We begin with Palazzo Medici Riccardi, the first Medici residence, inside of which the Cappella dei Magi is located. Then, we head towards Piazza San Lorenzo where the Basilica bearing the same name is located. The basilica became the burial place of the Medici family starting from Cosimo il Vecchio. We continue with Piazza del Duomo, where we can find the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore, Giotto’s Bell tower, and the Battistero di San Giovanni. We then go to Piazza della Signoria, where there are Palazzo Vecchio, the Fountain of Neptune, a copy of Michelangelo’s David and the Perseo by Cellini. After crossing Ponte Vecchio, we are going to reach Palazzo Pitti. Lunch (not included in the offer). In the afternoon, we are going to have a guided tour of Piazza Santa Croce and the Basilica bearing the same name. Lastly, we are going to reach Piazza SS. Annunziata where you can find the equestrian statue of Ferdinando de’ Medici. Dinner in a historical restaurant located in the city centre. Return to the hotel and overnight stay.

Third day: Florence – Barberino di Mugello

After breakfast, we are going to transfer to Barberino di Mugello to visit Villa di Cafaggiolo, Lorenzo the Magnificent’s favourite place. The English landscape garden with a large front lawn, made in the 19th century in the back of the villa, features two big cedars of Lebanon, found very often in the Medici gardens. At the end of the visit, we are going to relocate and visit Villa del Trebbio. A beautiful italian-style garden stretches over the west side of the Villa and you can enjoy the view over the entire Mugello from the crenellated tower. Lunch at the restaurant. In the afternoon we are going back to Florence to visit the Boboli Garden, Florence green heart thanks to trees of various species, flowers and citrus fruit. Inside the garden you can marvel at the Amphiteatre, with an enourmous Egyptian obelisk, the Fountain of Neptune, the Statua dell’Abbondanza (the Statue of Abundance), the Viottolone and the big fountain of the Oceano del Giambologna. You can spend the rest of the afternoon for personal tours. Return to the hotel, dinner (not included in the offer) and overnight stay.

Michele in Borgo Church, Piazza dei Cavalieri and Piazza dei Miracoli, the Bell tower, the Battistero, the Duomo and San Francesco Church. Lunch (not included in the offer).
