A tour combining the discovery of Padua with original cultural visits of the most scenic locations of the close Euganean hills park.
Itinerary
First day: Padua
Arrival in Padua and meeting with the guide. Stroll through Prato della Valle (one of Europe’s biggest squares) and visit to the city’s first Unesco World Heritage Site, the Botanic Garden. This is followed by a visit inside the Basilica of Saint Anthony of Padua followed up by a visit to St. George Orathory (Oratorio di San Giorgio in Italian). We then go to the squares where some time is allotted for lunch. Early in the afternoon we are going to visit Scrovegni Chapel. This is followed by a visit to the Church of the Eremitani (Chiesa degli Eremitani in Italian). Relocation to the hotel. Dinner at the restaurant. Return to the hotel and overnight stay.
Second day: Padua
After breakfast, we are going to visit Palazzo della Ragione (Piazza delle Erbe), Padua Baptistery (Piazza Duomo) and the Cappella della Reggia Carrarese. We are going to take a coffee break at the Pedrocchi Café (Caffè Pedrocchi in Italian), a café founded in the 18th century and one of the city’s landmarks. Once the visits are over, free time will be given for lunch and for individual tours in the afternoon. Relocation to the hotel. Dinner at the restaurant. Return to the hotel and overnight stay.
Third day: Padova – Abano Terme
After breakfast we are going to visit the Oratory of San Michele (Oratorio di San Michele in Italian), followed by a visit to the the Diocesan museum of Padua. Free time for lunch in the city centre. In the afternoon we are going to relocate to Abano Terme, popular thermal spring, and then we are going to visit Villa Bassi and its museum. Relocation and check-in in a 3 or 4-star hotel either located in Abano Terme or in the immediate vicinity. Dinner at the restaurant. Return to the hotel and overnight stay.
Fourth day: Valsanzibio – Monselice – Este – Arquà Petrarca
After breakfast, we are going to relocate to Valsanzibio to visit Parco di Villa Barbarigo. Later, we are going to stop in Rocca di Monselice, also known as Mastio Federiciano, a type of Italian fortified stronghold or fortress, located on a hilltop called Colle della Rocca in Monselice. Then we are going to relocate to a close village called Este to visit the Castello Carrarese and the Duomo di Santa Tecla, where an oil painting by Giambattista Tiepolo is kept. Lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, we are going to relocate to Arquà Petrarca (listed in the club of Italy’s most beautiful towns), a town known for hosting the house of Francesco Petrarca, a scholar and poet of early Renaissance Italy, who lived the last years of his life here. We are going to return to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
Fifth day: Luvigliano – Teolo – Battaglia Terme
Breakfast and hotel check-out. We are going to relocate to Luvigliano and visit Villa dei Vescovi, which is owned by FAI (Italian Environment Fund) and it’s surrounded by vineyards. Later, we are going to a small town called Teolo to visit the Abbazia di Praglia, ancient Benedictine monastery, whose rich library is a national monument. Lunch at the restaurant. In the afternoon we are going to relocate to the town of Battaglia Terme to visit the Castello del Catajo and its gardens. End of services. Possible additions or integrations may be added to the main program based on the client’s preferences.
