Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997, the Savoy Residences are a unique complex of priceless beauty on the outskirts of Turin.
ItinerarY
First day: Turin
We are going to arrive in Turin, meet the guide and visit the city. We begin by marveling at the exterior of the Collegio dei Nobili (then it became the Accademia delle Scienze), now home of the Egyptian Museum until we get to Piazza Carignano that houses the Palazzo bearing the same name and the Teatro Carignano. We then reach Piazza Carlo Alberto where the National Library is located. We walk along Via Roma and get to Piazza San Carlo. We are going to stop for a coffee break at the iconic Caffè Baratti & Milano. Lastly we arrive in Piazza Castello, which is home to Palazzo Madama, Palazzo Reale, and San Lorenzo church. To the left of the square rises the Duomo and, in front of it, stands the Quadrilatero Romano with the remains of the theatre and the Porte Palatine. We are going to visit Palazzo Reale, savoy residence listed a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Time available for lunch during the day. Check-in to a 4-star hotel in Turin. Dinner in an iconic restaurant located in the city centre. Return to the hotel and overnight stay.
Second day: Turin – Reggia di Venaria Reale – Castello Rivoli
After breakfast, we leave for the Reggia di Venaria Reale. We are going to have a guided tour of the Palace and then, marvel at the wonderful gardens in bloom with the Fontana di Ercole and the Scuderie Juvarriane (stables) with royal carriages and and the bucentaur of Savoy (boat used by the doge of Venice on solemn state occasions). Lunch (not included in the offer). In the afternoon, we are going to relocate to Castello Rivoli that used to be the seat of the court of the duchy of savoy and currently house of the Museum of Contemporary Art. We are going to visit the Museum’s permanent exhibition. At the end of the visit, we are going back to Turin. Dinner at the restaurant and overnight stay.
Third day: Turin
After breakfast, we are going to relocate to the Basilica di Superga, built on the highest point in Turin. The Basilica is majestic, important, and it houses the cript of the Savoy. We are going to have a guided tour of the Basilica, the Tombs and the Royal Apartments. We are going back to the city centre to have lunch. In the afternoon, we are going to have a guided tour of the Egyptian Museum that, with its 6500 artifacts, is the second most important museum dedicated to Egyptian antiquities in the world. At the end of the visit we are going back to the hotel. Dinner at the restaurant and overnight stay.
Fourth day: Turin – Royal Castle of Moncalieri – Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigi
After breakfast, we leave for the Royal Castle of Moncalieri, one of the oldest Savoy residences. We are going to visit the Apartments of the Princesses Maria Letizia and Maria Clotilde, the Royal Chapel and the Apartment of Vittorio Emanuele II. Lunch (not included in the offer). In the afternoon, we are going to relocate to the Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigi, a treasure of the Italian Rococò and natural green lung thanks to its 1600 hectares that used to be hunting grounds. At the end of the visit, we are going back to Turin. Dinner at the restaurant and overnight stay.
Fifth day: Turin
After breakfast, we are going back to the place of arrival and that is the end of our services. Possible additions or integrations may be added to the main program based on the client’s preferences.
